- What type of LSD is this?
This is a clutch-type LSD, which is broadly comparable to ZF limited-slip differentials as supplied, for example, in the BMW M3, M4 GT4, Porsche 911 GT3 RS, or Nissan GTR Nismo.
- Why is this differential more expensive than most other limited-slip differentials?
This is a new limited-slip differential, not a reconditioned unit. It utilizes the best techniques and materials, eliminating the drawbacks of a traditional LSD. This high-end technology, however, comes at a price.
- Is it comparable to a Quaife or other Torsen LSDs?
Partially. This limited-slip differential is also maintenance-free. However, much more is possible in terms of adjustment; the differential also locks with one wheel off the ground (unlike a Quaife) and also locks during braking/deceleration. Furthermore, up to 100% locking capability is possible, allowing more power to be transferred to the road surface. And you will experience noticeably better stability in your car with an OS Giken, whereas a Quaife might sometimes unexpectedly surprise you. Additionally, the Superlock is highly suitable for drifting, while a Quaife or other Torsen LSDs are considerably less so.

- Why this SuperLock LSD?
Design can handle more power
Locking capability up to 100%, but without the drawbacks normally associated with 100% locking.
No maintenance required; the plates show virtually no wear. There are race teams that have been driving problem-free with the differential for 10 years, only changing the oil.
Adjustable acceleration/deceleration locking capability
Due to the ideal setup and 100% lock-up, you can expect better lap times or more controllable drifts. The differential can also be adjusted so that it can be driven perfectly on public roads. It will offer the advantages of an open differential during slow driving, and the grip of a race-spec limited-slip differential when accelerating.
Central springs / negative preload (yellow box in diagram)
The main difference lies in the central springs that actually pull the pressure rings (which apply pressure to the clutch plates) TOWARDS each other. These springs effectively ensure that there is little locking action during relaxed driving, parking, or (braking) turn-in. During acceleration, this spring force
will still be overcome, and the differential will lock.
