- What type of LSD is this?
It is a Clutch-Type LSD, which is broadly comparable to ZF LSDs such as those supplied in the BMW M3, M4 GT4, Porsche 911 GT3 RS, or Nissan GT-R Nismo.

- Why is this differential more expensive than most other LSDs?
This is a new Clutch-Type LSD, not a reconditioned unit. It utilizes the best techniques and materials; the disadvantages of a traditional LSD have been eliminated. This high-end technology, however, comes at a price.

- Is it comparable to a Quaife or other Torsen-type LSD?
Partially. This Clutch-Type LSD is also maintenance-free. However, much more is possible in terms of adjustment; the differential also locks with one wheel off the ground (unlike a Quaife) and also locks during braking/deceleration. Furthermore, up to 100% locking capability is possible, allowing more power to be transferred to the road. And you will experience noticeably better stability in your car with an OS Giken, whereas with a Quaife, you might sometimes be unpleasantly surprised. Additionally, the Superlock is very suitable for drifting, while a Quaife or other Torsen-type LSD is significantly less so.

- Why this Clutch-Type LSD?
Design can handle more power
Up to 100% locking capability, but without the disadvantages normally associated with 100% locking.
No maintenance required; the clutch plates show virtually no wear. There are race teams that have been driving problem-free with the differential for 10 years and have only changed the oil.

Adjustable acceleration/deceleration locking capability
Thanks to the ideal setup and 100% locking, you can expect better lap times or more controllable drifts. The differential can also be adjusted so that it can be driven perfectly on public roads. At slow speeds, it will have the advantages of an open differential, and when accelerating, the grip of a race-spec LSD.

Central springs / negative preload (yellow box in drawing)
The big difference lies in central springs that actually pull the pressure plates (which apply pressure to the clutch plates) TOWARDS each other. These springs effectively ensure that there is little locking when driving gently, parking, or (braking) steering. During acceleration, this spring force will still be overcome, and the differential will lock.
